Birth Celebrations and Baby Naming

When a child is born our lives can be transformed so how do we celebrate that change?
Once we decide to name our child how often do we find ourselves restricted by the standard choices available to us?  How often do we put off ‘naming’ our child, and when we feel that the time is right wonder how we might go about it?  We at Rainbow’s End Foundation provide respectful and unique ceremonies that reflect and honour the parent’s depth of commitment to their child.  This means that you as a parent play an active part in creating a service or ceremony for your child, to cherish and remember.  We are also able to officiate at alternative venues of the parents choosing which means your special occasion can be as formal or as informal as you wish.

What is an interfaith minister?

An Interfaith Minister is ordained, but not aligned to any one belief. At the core of interfaith teaching is the expression: “Many Ways, One Truth”.  All Interfaith Ministers embrace and respect each and every religious tradition having studied all the sacred texts.  At the heart is Love, which is the central focus of all faiths and traditions.

What does this mean for my ceremony?

The beauty of an interfaith ceremony is that it can include anything you wish, and may be held at a venue to suit your desires at a place of personal significance.  Everything is possible and nothing is essential or prescribed.  The service will include the elements that are right for you, your family and your child and will reflect your respective beliefs - or none.  The key is love, respect and flexibility.

Who creates the ceremony?

You do, with as much or as little guidance from the Minister as required. Initial discussions will determine the real essence of what you want to create and share.  All families are encouraged to write their own vow of love for their child, making their promise more personal.  An interfaith minister can also suggest music, readings, help with the writing of the vows and will conduct the ceremony on the day.
